Fortnite is no stranger to crossovers, with various characters from popular franchises like Marvel’s Deadpool and DC’s Batman making appearances as unlockable skins. However, were any of us expecting Nintendo to lend one of its own icons for an, admittedly easy to, miss cameo? Initially spotted by GoNintendo, the gluttonous pink puffball known as Kirby makes a very brief appearance during the Party Royale trailer, which highlights the new, combat-free island. He can be seen at the very beginning of the trailer by the bottom-right corner of the big monitor in the background. And it’s not a look-a-like or anything, it is most definitely Kirby. Presumably Nintendo and Epic Games entered some sort of agreement to feature Kirby, one that does not involve Microsoft and Sony. The same trailer was uploaded to the official PlayStation and Xbox YouTube channels, and if you look for Kirby in them, you’ll notice that he’s been blurred out in an attempt to hide him. No reason has been given for this but it’s likely for legal reasons due to Kirby being a copyrighted character for another publisher. Bizarrely,

the trailer has not been posted to any of Nintendo’s channels. Is it possible that Kirby’s cameo is the beginning of an actual crossover event with Fortnite v bucks generator? At this point, it’s hard to say but when real-life musicians can get themed events and cosmetics based on them, it’s not entirely outside the realm of possibility. it would have to be a Switch exclusive one and while console exclusive content has been done before in Fortnite it’s only ever amounted to a few skins.
